Brewer's Junction started with a plain Southern truth: we love our sweet tea, our lemonade, our Arnold Palmers. We just did not love the sugar and the calories that always came riding along. So we set out to fix that, one small batch at a time, right here in Memphis.
It started in a Memphis kitchen, with a teacher who would not settle for the usual tradeoff.
Brewer's Junction started with Rajiv Rohatgi, a chemistry teacher at Christian Brothers High School right here in Memphis. Like most folks down here, he grew up on the Southern staples: sweet tea on the porch, cold lemonade in the summer, a good margarita with friends. What he never loved was everything that came riding along with them, the cane sugar, the calories, and the artificial stand-ins lining the store shelf. For Rajiv, who happens to be diabetic, cutting the sugar was personal, but the goal was always simple: a drink anyone would want to reach for.
So he did what a chemistry teacher does. He got to work. Blend after blend, tested at home, until the tea tasted like Sunday supper again and the lemonade tasted like summer, this time with the sugar taken out. What he landed on became Brewer's Junction, the Southern classics you love, made the way they should have been all along.
The secret is a proprietary blend of three natural sweeteners: erythritol, agave nectar, and stevia. Full flavor, about ten calories a glass, all natural, and not one artificial thing in the bottle. Word got around the neighborhood, the batches got bigger, and Brewer's Junction was born. In his free time, Rajiv is still tinkering, better-for-you ice cream, Kool-Aid, and more that we hope to add down the road.
